The Natural Light Workshop $300
This is a four week workshop that focuses on getting beautiful images using natural light only. You will have daily access to me via email throughout the duration of the workshop. Each week you will receive a new lesson and assignment + supplemental videos. You will also receive detailed critique from me on your assignment from the previous lesson. Week one covers window light, positioning your subject, metering for exposure, using a reflector and finding flattering shadows. Week two covers open shade, finding the right kind of shade, avoiding dappled light and finding the perfect location. Week three covers backlighting with window light and backlighting under the open sky, how to achieve rim light, how to focus with backlighting and how to achieve haze and flare. Week four covers silhouettes, camera and subject position for great silhouettes, the power of negative space, creating visual interest and capturing connections for silhouette images with impact. Contact me at bethrossphoto@gmail.com to schedule your private workshop.
Bloom Natural Light Mini Workshop $200 active / $150 silent
This is a two week mini workshop that I run exclusively on The Bloom Forum. During this mini workshop you will receive two detailed natural light lessons. Each lesson will be followed by an assignment where you can put to use the techniques you learned in the lesson. You will also have access to supplemental videos for each lesson where you can watch the techniques in action. I will be present on the Bloom forum each weekday to guide you through the process and answer any questions that you might have, as well as provide detailed critique on your assignment images. This workshop focuses primarily on window light and backlight. The window light lesson covers metering for exposure, positioning your subject, using a reflector, finding flattering shadows, learning to love shadows and raising your ISO (it’s not as scary as it seems). The backlighting lesson covers backlighting with window light and backlighting under the open sky, how to achieve rim light, how to focus with backlighting and how to achieve haze and flare. The next run of this mini workshop is June 11, 2012. Read all of the details on Bloom’s Blog.
