The theme for this week is “a picture is worth a thousand words”. I adore this picture for so many reasons. The love between them just melts my heart. ♥

I decided to take pictures of my boys the other day on a whim. Most days this would end in disaster. They really surprised me though. I couldn’t get a smile out of my youngest, but I do love his sly expression. It makes me wonder what little scheme he is planning. I love the big smile I got out of my oldest. I have to say the strangest things to get him to smile like that. I just think my boys are so handsome and they both have the most amazing eyes. ♥

The theme for this week is “it’s a good day for a picnic”. I thought it would be fun to let my boys eat breakfast outside. I was so excited. I had set everything up perfectly, but before I could even step back and take the first shot, my youngest son squirted his applesauce all over my beautiful turquoise blanket. It was all over after that. I’m sure you can imagine. I did get one shot that I love. I think they were looking at the blob of applesauce on the blanket. It wasn’t funny to me at the time, but I will probably look back on this one day soon and laugh. I kind of already am.

The theme for this week is “a day in my life”. That is a tough one. Trust me, you would be pretty bored with a typical day in my life. After thinking about it for a bit, I decided to take my camera with me on our trip to Dallas this past weekend. The first thing we did was stop for lunch. I snapped a few pictures of my boys coloring while we waited.

Next we went to the rehab center where my husband’s grandpa is staying. The boys love their great grandparents so much and they were so excited to see them.

Here are the cards the boys made for him. ♥

Then we were off to my niece’s birthday party.

By this time my boys were sick of the camera, so I decided to get some night bokeh shots on the way home.

My little guy is quite the explorer. He is constantly on the go. I have a hard time getting pictures of him because he won’t stay in one place for very long. Solution? Sit him on a chair in high grass and he won’t go very far. He climbed around and explored a little bit, but for the most part he stayed put. He was a dream to photograph. Of course it helps that he is so adorable. ♥

The theme for this week is “dream, dream, dream”. I knew exactly what I wanted to photograph when I saw the theme. My son looks so innocent and sweet and peaceful while he is sleeping. I wanted to capture that in a photograph. ♥

My baby boy turned two a few months ago. I’m having a really hard time with this. I still want to call him my baby, but he isn’t. He’s a big boy now. He runs away from me when I try to take his picture. That is why I have so many pictures of him in his crib, and these are no different. After chasing him around outside for what seemed like hours, I brought him inside and put him in his crib. He can’t run from me in there. I managed to get a few pictures of him that I just love. Wait. If he still sleeps in a crib, that means he’s still a baby, right?

It’s week three of my 26 week project and boy was this week challenging, but I love trying new things and pushing myself to be creative. For the month of February our technique is “cinemagraph” and our theme for week three is “the people who keep me sane”. I wanted a picture of my children laying on the bed playing with my husband. It wound up being kind of a crazy setting. It makes me laugh to look at it now because I can remember all the crying and pouting that took place in between shots. I still love it though because this is totally them and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

It’s week two of my 26 week project and I am so excited! This is such a fun experience for me. The theme for week two is “let’s get close”. I decided to try and get a picture of my little man giving me a kiss, but he just wanted to look at the camera. He was so intrigued by the beeping from the timer. I just love the soft window light and how it shines through his messy hair.

I promised myself that I would blog more often this year, so I thought I would share a few recent favorites of my boys. They melt my heart. ♥
