I just wanted to share a few pictures of me and my boys. Recently a fellow photographer lost her battle with cancer and it really brought home the fact that life is so precious and fleeting. It made me realize that I need to be in pictures with my boys. I am rarely on the other side of the camera, but my boys need pictures of them with their mommy. I plan to do this more often. ♥

It’s been a while since I posted. I am trying to discipline myself to take pictures daily, which is something I have never done before. I have picked up my camera more times in the last few days than I have in the last few months. I was wondering what room to take pictures in yesterday and how to set everything up. My subject, of course, was my 2 (almost 3) year old son. I walked into the bathroom and noticed the beautiful light in there, so I thought bath time pictures would be my theme for the day. I decided to take pictures of my boys the other day on a whim. Most days this would end in disaster. They really surprised me though. I couldn’t get a smile out of my youngest, but I do love his sly expression. It makes me wonder what little scheme he is planning. I love the big smile I got out of my oldest. I have to say the strangest things to get him to smile like that. I just think my boys are so handsome and they both have the most amazing eyes. ♥

The theme for this week is “it’s a good day for a picnic”. I thought it would be fun to let my boys eat breakfast outside. I was so excited. I had set everything up perfectly, but before I could even step back and take the first shot, my youngest son squirted his applesauce all over my beautiful turquoise blanket. It was all over after that. I’m sure you can imagine. I did get one shot that I love. I think they were looking at the blob of applesauce on the blanket. It wasn’t funny to me at the time, but I will probably look back on this one day soon and laugh. I kind of already am.

The theme for this week is “I don’t want to forget”. A few months ago I came across a letter that my grandmother wrote to me about 10 months before she died. I got to thinking about her and how much I miss her. I don’t want to forget her or her beautiful handwriting. ♥

The theme for this week is “a day in my life”. That is a tough one. Trust me, you would be pretty bored with a typical day in my life. After thinking about it for a bit, I decided to take my camera with me on our trip to Dallas this past weekend. The first thing we did was stop for lunch. I snapped a few pictures of my boys coloring while we waited.

Next we went to the rehab center where my husband’s grandpa is staying. The boys love their great grandparents so much and they were so excited to see them.

Here are the cards the boys made for him. ♥

Then we were off to my niece’s birthday party.

By this time my boys were sick of the camera, so I decided to get some night bokeh shots on the way home.

My little guy is quite the explorer. He is constantly on the go. I have a hard time getting pictures of him because he won’t stay in one place for very long. Solution? Sit him on a chair in high grass and he won’t go very far. He climbed around and explored a little bit, but for the most part he stayed put. He was a dream to photograph. Of course it helps that he is so adorable. ♥

The theme for this week is “dream, dream, dream”. I knew exactly what I wanted to photograph when I saw the theme. My son looks so innocent and sweet and peaceful while he is sleeping. I wanted to capture that in a photograph. ♥
